Nature Bouncing Back

In 2018 the Spring Creek Fire burned over 108,000 acres in southern Colorado and destroyed more than 140 structures. Driving through the burn area, it’s sad to see many foundations still left as they were six years ago. The fire started six years ago today (June 27, 2018) and took almost three months to contain.

My family has had a small portion of property in that area, which we were fortunate the fire didn’t reach, though fingers of it came within a hundred yards. Unfortunately many people and animals lost their homes.

Now six years later, it is good to see the amount of vegetation that is returning. Fires like this seem to be more frequent, and what is lost cannot be replaced. But it’s good to see the natural progression being made. Even thought this fire started by human cause, The forest has its own way of returning to life.
