The Rise of AI in Customer Interactions
It seems that there has been an exponential trend of communicating with AI over human connections when you try interacting with a company. Apparently, these companies have decided to use AI instead of people to communicate with their customers.
A Shift Away from Human Interaction
I have been working on several things lately that I have had questions about. In the past, even with the same companies, I have been able to get in touch with a live human. This is no longer the case. People are being replaced by computer programs.
This Is NOT How I Work
A major reason that I do what I do is to bring back the human connection. I was fortunate to be able to host knife making day with a firefighter and his son, which I will be posting about soon.
Why I Do What I Do
During our lunch break, he asked me why I started my company, and why I host these events. I explained to him that it’s exactly for this reason. I am working to reinforce the human connection. To teach people skills that they can be proud of. The help people improve their mental health by lifting them up.
AI Has Its Place, But It’s Not a Replacement
I am not trying to slam AI. I believe that an increase in technology, including AI, can help provide assistance to people in unbelievable ways. I even use AI to help generate titles and images for posts, and refine the wording (sometimes). But the problem comes when we rely on it instead of positive human interactions.
The Value of Craftsmanship and Community
One of the reasons I enjoy creating custom woodworking is because I strive to build something that customers have a sense of connection with. They are able to help in the design process and utilize me to put it together. When I host a class, we are able to interact with each other. We work together to create something that they are able to use in the future, and feel a sense of self pride each time they use it.
Let’s Not Forget the Human Connection
So as we progress as a society, please don’t forget about the human connection. Let’s not forget that people are more important than computer programs. Each person is an individual who deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Let’s not forget the human connection.
