Addressing Autism in the Church: My Experience

There have been a few things weighing on my mind recently. Well, let’s face it—there have been a lot of things weighing on my mind. But there are a few things that I want to address.

A lot of my life is starting to make more sense after being diagnosed with autism. A lot of the past has flashed into my my mind—things I have said and done, things people have said to me. Even writing this I’m reminded of when I was accused of making depression my identity. You know…if I made depression my identity, am I doing this with autism now? Is that a bad thing?

Creating Videos

But as these thoughts, among others, fill my mind I decided to start recording videos to address them. In the past I made a couple videos about depression, but hadn’t done much recently. I’m trying to be more diligent, but of course I get discouraged when I don’t get the response I hoped for. Regardless of the correlation between hope and reality, I choose to continue pressing forward.

I’ve had some amazing comments on my recent videos which have been very encouraging, and has been great motivation.

Autism in Church

So in response to the barrage of concerns in my brain, I’m currently working on addressing autism in the church. My most recent video takes a look at masking in church. I have a list of more ideas, but if there is anything that you think I should address, or topics you would like to see, please reach out through the contact page. If you’re on WordPress, you can comment directly on this post.
